Touched

I'm sure we've all been touched by something at some point in our lives. Clearly the recent events in Connecticut that took so many innocent lives touched most of us. The young man that committed the act was also clearly touched  -  unbalanced mentally.

Sometimes the most seemingly insignificant actions stir us emotionally -  a look, a smile or a knowing nod - something shared between two people.  Sometimes something as simple as a song -

A book can touch you in ways you never knew imaginable.  The bible is an obvious choice for many. Others prefer works by J D Salinger, Jack Kerouac and others.

Sometimes a line in a movie touches us - stirs us emotionally

To be touched is to be human.  It is - some might say - at the core of our humanity. Most people at some point in their lives need inspiration. We need to be touched by someone or something to get past some crisis real or imagined. We are communal beings.

And how did this all start?

Go ahead - make my day and be touched by another member of the LBC -  Delirious, gaelikaa, Grannymar, Maxi, Maria SF, Padmum, Paul, Ramana, The Old Fossil and Will.

  1. Shackman, do you know every song ever recorded? It feels like that from over here!

  2. Geeze GM - hope I'm not boring you with my musical interludes. I just love to enhance my commentary with it. I could easily prattle on and on about these topics - but I choose to do them fresh on Friday AM- I look up the topic on your site, login to mine and let it flow. Actually there's a nice Dave Mason song that fits here - Let it Go Let it Flow - LOL. Ahem. Maybe I'll try the traditional method but I'd wager a song or two might creep in. I do have eclectic taste in music and know a little about a lot of it. Comes from 50+ years of listening.

    1. I don't think GM is complaining! I know I'm not. Music touches the heart and the best music touches the soul. You have a great sense of what fits, so how can we possibly complain?

  4. Some songs and scenes touch us deeply and your choice of these two songs and the Eastwood clip will be on my list. Here is one that never fails to touch me because of the background to it - Vincent Van Gogh was "touched" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dipFMJckZOM

  5. My current book is very touching. I'm reading Jane Eyre. I'm going to be sad when I finish it. :)
